Trimble is hosting the fourth annual Construction Summit this month (September 18) at the Westin Dubai Mina Seyahi Beach Resort and Marina in Dubai, UAE.

The event has broadened from a building information modelling (BIM)-focused event to an industry-wide summit, discussing advancements in the industry, across the different stakeholders of the full construction lifecycle.

“We are also introducing innovative technologies and combining the technology with an industry forum. People can get a ‘hands-on’ feel, and participate in discussions on the different forums and panels,” said Paul Wallett, managing director at Trimble, who will be speaking on technology.

Wallet said the Middle East market has transformed, and is certainly positioning itself as the global ‘smart’ technology hub. “It has ambitious plans in terms of ‘smart’ integration. In certain areas we’re seeing success, but again, it’s a big step to go from nothing to a highly-integrated IoT industry. I think that, from an overall construction industry viewpoint, we need to invest more in order for technology to have a bigger impact. We can probably take a much bigger leap forward as a result.”

Trimble’s Tekla software was deployed for modelling the structural solution of stadia for the recent Fifa Soccer World Cup in Russia. In the UAE, the Museum of the Future, Dubai Eye, the Opera House, and the Midfield Airport were modelled using Trimble solutions.
