    Saudi Arabia's construction industry witnessed a strong uptick during the first quarter on the back of SR48.9 billion ($13.3 billion) worth of awarded contracts mainly in the oil and gas, water and transportation sectors, said a report.

    Oman's Galfar Engineering & Contracting Company said its consolidated net profit fell to RO465,000 ($1.2 million) in the first quarter from RO1.448 million ($3.75 million) last year mainly because of the lower revenues recorded by the company.

    Egypt has announced the opening of the world’s widest suspension bridge, across the Nile, just north of central Cairo. At its widest, the bridge has six traffic lanes in each direction and measures 67.3 m across, said a report.

    Bahraini authorities have invited tenders from leading contractors for beautification of the Al Quds Road in capital Manama besides landscaping and irrigation networks and also its maintenance for a one-year period.
