THE MADINAH Municipality has allocated 8.78 million sq m of land at four separate locations to build about 17,000 housing units, according to reports in a local newspaper.

Each housing unit, covering 350 to 500 sq m, will adopt designs that will reflect the customs and traditions of Saudi families, the Arab News said.
The newspaper quoted a municipality source saying that 2.7 million sq m of land has been allocated in Owaina, 2.6 million in Malileh, 2 million in Abyar Al Mashi and 2.2 million in Swaidra for the housing project.
The municipality has also signed a contract to establish 8,143 housing units in 16 cities, the report added.
Local realtor Naif Al Suhaimy told the newspaper the project would help solve the housing problem in the Saudi province and a third of the allocated area would be developed “with infrastructure, schools and mosques”.
