SCOTT Wilson has been awarded a contract by the Saudi Railways Organisation (SRO) to provide project management support to the Haramain High Speed Rail Project,which is the first of its kind in the Gulf.

Under the contract, UK-based Scott Wilson will provide technical, specialist engineering and programme management support services to the SRO, both at its headquarters in Dammam and around the construction and commissioning sites.
The 440-km railway will link Makkah, Jeddah, the new King Abdullah Economic City and Madinah, with trains running at speeds of 320-kph. 
Scott Wilson was an associate sponsors at the Middle East Rail Opportunities 2010 Conference held recently in Bahrain, where Martin Nielsen, Middle East regional managing director, addressed advantages and challenges of new railway projects within the region. Newly-appointed Middle East regional director Kareem Shamma said the conference was a perfect way to network with other like-minded entities.
