Ambitious plans

ALMONA Plastic Products Factory, a leading pipe manufacturing company in Saudi Arabia, will be using The Big 5 Saudi Arabia platform to promote the advantages of its new-age pipe systems and to expand into new markets.

The Riyadh-based firm is targeting markets in Egypt, Africa, Qatar and Iraq, in addition to strengthening its position in its existing markets.

“Although a young company, we are hoping to be one of the largest in the region by implementing new technologies and ensuring the best quality for our products and services,” says Abdullah Al Agil, deputy managing director.

Established in 2008, Almona manufactures PPR-C (polypropylene random copolymer) pipes and fittings  in sizes ranging from 20 to 125 mm, PE (polyethylene) pipes – made from HDPE (high density polyethylene) and PE100 – for water and gas supply applications and telecommunication ducts in sizes from 16 to 250 mm. All these products will be promoted at the show.

All its products comply with the Saudi (Saudi Arabian Standards Organisation – Saso) and German (DIN) standards, says Al Agil.

Speaking of the company’s products, Al Agil says Almona is a system of pipes and fittings made from polypropylene random copolymer (PPR-C), specially developed for the construction of heating and water supply systems, which offer outstanding reliability over time.

“One special feature of the Almona system is the assembly technique, in which the parts to be connected are welded by melting. After melting, the pipe and fitting form a single, continuous body, with none of the problems that may derive from potential leakage points,” he says.

It is this assembly method, the wide range of sizes and the fittings available, the versatility of the system and its excellent chemical and physical properties that make Almona a product of exceptional quality, he adds.

Al Agil considers Saudi Arabia as the most biggest and important in the region. “The GCC region is now one of the most important markets in the world in the field of construction. And Saudi Arabia is the biggest in the region where the government is financing a large number of projects that will benefit the country and its economy,” he says.

This boom market has helped the company increase its sales by 35 per cent compared to last year, he adds.

In line with this demand, Almona is poised to launch production shortly at a new plant in the new industrial area of Alkharj. The factory, spread over a total area of 8,000 sq m, has a total capacity of 9,000 tonnes per year (tpy) of pipes and 250 tpy of fittings.

In addition, Almona also intends to embark on Phase Two expansion of the plant, which will see the firm launching production of additional products. This will increase its total production capacity to 16,000 tonnes per year by 2012.

Almona, which has a paid-up capital of SR10 million ($2.66 million) and over 40 employees, is certified to ISO 9001:2008 quality management systems.

The company, which earlier exhibited at The Big 5 Dubai in 2009, will be present at Stand B64 at The Big 5 Saudi Arabia.
