NEW dehumidifying energy recovery ventilators (DerVs) for small fresh air requirements will be in the limelight when S&P Coil Products (SPC) of the UK participates alongside its regional associates at The Big 5 Saudi Arabia in Jeddah.

Also promoted at the show by SPC’s UK and UAE operations will be heat pipes, while its associate Sanuvox, which has offices in Canada and the UAE, will put the spotlight on its ultraviolet (UV) lamps, and SPC-Hidross will offer dehumidifiers from its UAE and Italian operations.

SPC is a manufacturer of specialist equipment used in air-conditioning applications, such as heat pipes for energy recovery and dehumidification in central air-conditioning, ultraviolet (UV) lamps for air sterilisation and portable dehumidifiers. It offers radiant panels, trench heaters, air curtains, fan convectors, coil heat exchangers and HVAC (heating, ventilation and air-conditioning) equipment to the public and private sector.

“We work in a niche market with a focused approach on supporting the green building concept by energy recovery and IEQ (indoor environmental quality),” says Sudeep Sethi, the company’s regional director. “For more than 25 years, we’ve applied our ingenuity to the heating, cooling, and dehumidifying of indoor environments – and to the delivery of HVAC equipment that withstands the grind of daily use. The result is a range of products that are aesthetic, robust, and economical to run.”

SPC has its head office and a production facility in Leicester, UK and has a regional office and production facility operating as  SPC Heat Pipes in Dubai. It also has a branch office by the same name (run by AA Turki Corporation) in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. The company employs a staff of 100 people and registers an annual turnover of $12 million.

With the UK market being depressed, SPC has been seeking to offset the drop in demand by boosting its presence in other markets such as the Middle East, where its UAE operation recently doubled its production capacity. A new branch office has also been opened in Riyadh and a new distributor appointed in Kuwait and Egypt.

Sethi says SPC has set its eyes on the Saudi market. “The Saudi Arabian construction market is currently booming and will continue to do so for the next few years. We are looking to tap the market and maximise our potential,” he says.

Apart from Saudi Arabia, he sees good potential for the construction industry in Qatar and Abu Dhabi.

The company is also looking to start manufacturing in India with goals to expand in the Indian subcontinent. It also intends to enter the North African market. SPC managed to achieve its sales targets for last year, during which it registered a 15 per cent increase in growth compared to the year before.

It has undertaken a hundreds of projects in the region ranging from hotels and aquariums to hospitals and factories in all the GCC countries. Some of the prestigious Dubai projects to which it has supplied SPC heat pipes for dehumidification and heat recovery are the Royal Mirage, Dubai International Exhibition and Convention Centre, Dhow Palace, Dubai Bank, Emaar headquarters, Golf Towers, Express by Holiday Inn, Knowledge Village, LOB Buildings, Madinat Jumeirah, and Mankhool Tower.

In Saudi Arabia, it has supplied heat pipes to Jeddah Aquarium, Gosi Madeena Tower B, Ministry of Higher Education for Society College in Jeddah and for Gizan University administration building, Petrofac building, apart from other commercial and residential building and warehouse projects.

The company will be present at Stand E28 at The Big 5 Saudi Arabia.
