The Big 5

Dazzling display

Impex gemstone slabs and tiles ... high quality.

INDIA-based Maaz Impex will be taking advantage of The Big 5 Saudi Arabia in Jeddah to reach out to new clients in the Gulf and the wider Middle East when it displays its stone products.

At the show, the ISO 9000-2001-certified company intends to give a dazzling performance with its showcase of high-quality gemstone slabs and tiles, as well as bubble slabs and tiles.

An exporter of granite, green marble, ceramic (wall/floor) tiles of various colours, as well as diverse types of sand stones and Tumble stone, Maaz Impex has a competitive edge in terms of the quality of its products as it controls the entire production chain right from owning the mines to manufacture and distribution of the gemstone products, according to Mohammed Moin Gajdhar, the company’s director.

“The stone slabs are hand-hewn from the finest gem rough, used traditionally only in jewellery, he says. “Because these fine gems don’t naturally lend themselves to standard slab dimensions, we have developed a special technique that lets us piece them together into a durable mosaic like no other,” he says.

“Our mission is to provide customers with high-end gem surfaces and we have been working continuously to bring the most exciting product line ever to hit the elite granite tile market,” he adds.

Maaz Impex offers a range of gem surfaces that can be used for kitchens, counter-tops, walls, ceilings, floors, vanities, trimming and much more.

“We can also help create translucent surfaces (light-transmitting surfaces) with our gem surfaces as well as ultra-light weight panelling surfaces. These gem surfaces are ideal for ceilings, walls, elevators, airplanes, and yachts,” Gajdhar says.

Its range of stone products includes granite, antique polished granite, Verde Guatemala, green marble tile and slabs, Verde Green marble, sandstones, and semi-precious stone).

Commenting on the reasons for participating at The Big 5 Saudi Arabia, Gajdhar says: “Construction in the Middle East is booming. While we have our regular clients in Oman, Turkey, Iran and Egypt, this show provides an opportunity for us to find additional clients from the region.”

The company, which employs 30 to 40 people and has an annual turnover of $1.2 million, has recorded “excellent” business levels last year against the backdrop of an encouraging domestic market.

It has supplied to a number of projects in the Gulf. Having recently completed a hotel project in Muscat, Oman, it is currently involved in another one in the sultanate.

Maaz Impex will be exhibiting at Stand G48 at the show.
