ABUNAYYAN Electric Corporation (AEC) of Saudi Arabia has won a major contact to supply Eaton Corporation’s busways (busbar trunking) to a Riyadh skyscraper, on the heels of acquiring the agency for the US-based manufacturer.

AEC entered into the partnership with Eaton – for the supply and installation of its Cutler Hammer range of busway systems – in a bid to boost its business in the construction sector, says marketing and business development manager Muhammad Kashif.

He continues: “Winning the contract for the supply and installation of a busway system at Al Swailem Tower, an upcoming landmark in the heart of Riyadh, was a major success for the company.”

A leading distributor of industrial, electrical and automation products, AEC has major growth plans for its business in the water and energy sector as a reliable partner for key customers such as electric distribution panel builders, system integrators, electrical contractors as well as end-users, says Kashif.

As part of its business strategy, the company is also planning to diversify its portfolio in new areas such as IT and data centre business in addition to lighting – another area of growth with new developments related to LED lighting for residential applications, he adds.

AEC does business mainly in the fields of construction, residential, industrial and IT and data centre sectors. Apart from a wide range of Schneider products (Merlin Gerin/Telemecanique/Square D), AEC is the exclusive agent for many international brands in the kingdom such as Rittal, Hubbell, Cellpack, Control Techniques, Leroy Somer, Phoenix Contact, Socomec, Hager, Scame, Multiplast, CH Lightings, in addition to its own Aman brand.

AEC ventured into the lighting business with its Aman brand in 2005, which has since grown to cover a comprehensive range of energy-saving lamps, fluorescent tubes, HID lamps and halogen lamps, GLS – incandescent lamps and fluorescent lamps.

“As part of our expansion, fluorescent fixtures will be available this month,” Kashif says, adding that AEC has also launched electric distribution load centres under the Aman brand incorporating Hyundai MCCBs (moulded case circuit breakers) and MCBs (miniature circuit breakers).

Kashif says the construction industry was slow to pick up from the recession last year, but it is now booming with firm oil prices resulting in huge budgetary surpluses and an emphasis on infrastructure development, especially in Saudi Arabia.
AEC has 13 branch offices and showrooms across the kingdom.
