SAUDI Basic Industries Corporation (Sabic) has awarded international architecture firm Henning Larsen Architects a contract for the conceptual, basic and detailed engineering of the new Sabic main building at the New City Centre in Jubail Industrial City.

The contract was signed by Omar Al Amoudi, Sabic Shared Services executive vice-president, and Jacop Kurek, Henning Larsen Architects’ international projects partner.

Commenting on the project, Al Amoudi said: “The new Sabic building will be built with contemporary architectural designs and engineering standards, anticipating and meeting our future needs.

“Its eco-friendly design will provide a healthy and natural work environment to meet the requirements of our growing number of employees on whom we rely for the smooth running of our day-to-day operations.”

The engineering phase of the project is planned to be completed by the first quarter of 2016 and the overall project completion is expected by 2019.
