The Z-boom lift ... compact.

IN A significant addition to its product line-up, Genie has introduced its first entirely new compact, lightweight electric Z-boom lift.

Designed for both indoor and outdoor maintenance applications, the new Genie Z-33/18 boom lift is well-suited to tasks on sensitive surfaces where space is restricted.

Although developed for the European market, this new versatile articulating model is a new generation of Genie boom lift that offers features and capabilities suited for customers all over the world, says Carlo Forini, director of business development and product management, Terex AWP Europe, the Middle East, Russia and Africa (EMEAR).

Forini continues: “This is a completely new model designed from the ground up to offer a great combination of lightweight, compact dimensions and ‘up-and-over’ lift capabilities combined with powerful drive motors. Our customers are demanding versatile boom lifts for sensitive indoor tasks that are also capable of meeting general outdoor maintenance applications.”

The new model weighs only 3,640 kg and offers a ground clearance of 15 cm. Particularly well-suited to applications on sensitive surfaces inside airports, shopping centres and theatres – in addition to routine outdoor maintenance tasks – the new Z-33/18 lift includes features to help increase efficiency on jobsites where space is tight.

Its key features include solid non-marking or multi-surface tyres as option, long working cycles due to low-consumption AC drive transmission, a tight turning radius for excellent manoeuvrability, the ability to drive at maximum height, plus the benefits of the Genie FastMast boom system that shortens ground-to-top lifting time.

Featuring a compact 1.9-m wheelbase providing a gradeability of 30 per cent, the Genie Z-33/18 articulating boom lift offers a working height of 12 m, a horizontal reach of 5.6 m and an up-and-over clearance of 4.28 m. In addition to a 76-cm-long by 1.16-m-wide platform, the man basket supports weights of up to 200 kg.

To make transport easier, this compact unit’s boom stows down to only 1.5 m in width and 4.17 m in length. Drive speed is an efficient 6 kmph combined with a 48V DC 315 Ah boom power source.

“Genie is known for designing its products with serviceability in mind, and this product is no different. In addition to easily accessible machine components, the new Genie Z-33/18 boom lift features mechanical switches that are conveniently protected within the boom to avoid damage,” says Forini.

Thanks to the common control system used across the entire Genie boom lift family, technicians will also be able to apply their existing knowledge of Genie equipment to help make trouble-shooting and maintenance faster and easier.

Distinguishing the next generation of Genie products from previous models, the new Z-33/18 boom lift also includes the new Genie product design to combine a fresh new look and feel with improved ergonomic design features.

This new Genie Z-33/18 articulating boom model will be available across EMEAR in Q4 2014.
