A CONSORTIUM comprising Korea’s Lotte Engineering & Construction, Rizzani de Eccher of Italy and Redco of Qatar, has won a major metro project worth $609 million from Qatar Railways Company, said a report.
Lotte said the company’s work, which involves the building of a section of the Red Line North in Doha, is worth $121.96 million, reported The Korea Economic Daily.
The total length of the line to be built by the Korean contractor is 6.7 km, it added. The work on the metro project, which includes building of elevated sections, tunnels, and stations, will start by the end of this month and take over three years for completion.
The Red Line North underground runs to a length of approximately 13 km through seven stations. The Doha Metro, a part of the Qatar Rail Development Programme, consists of four lines.
