SNC-Lavalin, a leading engineering and construction group, has won two district cooling (DC) contracts in Saudi Arabia, with a combined value of approximately $71 million.

These include a $30.6-million engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contract from Saudi Dhahran Cooling Company, a subsidiary of Saudi Tabreed and the Central District Cooling Company, to expand the district cooling facilities of its Aramco district cooling plant in Dhahran.

SNC-Lavalin will be responsible for the design, procurement, construction and commissioning of an additional cooling capacity of 5,000 refrigeration tons (RT), with all associated equipment, energy transfer stations and chilled water networks – to achieve a total cooling capacity of 32,000 RT.

Another $40.2 million EPC contract by the Central District Cooling Company, also a subsidiary of Saudi Tabreed, is for the expansion of its Jabal Omar Development Company (JODC) district cooling scheme in Makkah.

Under this contract, SNC-Lavalin will be responsible for the design, procurement, construction and commissioning of an additional cooling capacity of 10,000 RT, with all associated equipment, energy transfer stations and chilled water networks – to achieve a total cooling capacity of 35,000 RT.
