Azure Residence project ... Meva formwork for walls and slabs.

A leading UAE-based contractor is using Meva’s innovative formwork for slab work to facilitate construction work on a prestigious waterfront development in Dubai, UAE.

The Azure Residence project is part of Palm Jumeirah development by Nakheel, which stretches 5 km into the Arabian Gulf, doubling Dubai’s shoreline.

The project encompasses 170 luxury apartments being built directly on the waterfront by contractor United Engineering Construction (Unec), and typical for residential projects of this nature is the demand for the best possible efficiency and speed in construction.

“Since the slabs constitute the largest part of concrete works in terms of area, the formwork methods were looked at very closely,” says a spokesman for Meva KHK Formwork Systems, Dubai, which supplied the
formwork.

Meva systems used on the project include the MevaDec for slab formwork as well as Mammut 350 for wall formwork.

“Meva’s MevaDec slab formwork system proved once more to be the best in class in terms of cost, speed, efficiency and quality,” he adds.

The spokesman continues: “These advantages come from flexibility with minimised compensation areas, easy adaptation to building layouts, reduced inventory, thanks the system’s early stripping method and quick cycles without the need for cranes. Safety and ease of assembly with zero error (the prop positions are defined by the system) allow for easy planning, logistics and work flow, saving time and money.

“The MevaDec panels are fast and easy to set up by hand, eliminating the need for a crane. The prop positions are defined by the system and thus any assembly errors are excluded.

“The upper side of the MevaDec panels is free from any obstacles, hence rebarring and other work is not hindered.”

Germany-based Meva has gained a reputation for sophisticated formwork systems, continuous product development and comprehensive services.
