Rexel International Projects Group (IPG), which operates as a dedicated electrical services and solutions platform for large capital projects across the globe, has embarked on a major drive to expand its presence in the GCC region.

A division of the Rexel Group, a global leader in the professional distribution of products and services for the energy world, operating in 38 countries with €13.1 billion ($14.2 billion) in sales in 2014, Rexel IPG is offering customers in the Middle East its expertise in the execution of large capital projects through existing joint ventures and a subsidiary in the region.

These include: Rexel Emirates in Abu Dhabi and Dubai, a joint venture with Emdad, a service provider and an EPC (engineering, procurement and construction) contractor; Rexel Arabia in Saudi Arabia, a joint venture with the Al Hohayb group, a premier Saudi Arabian group with expertise in the electrical industry; and Redco in Dubai, which serves as a re-export hub to address other GCC markets.

“We have identified the Middle East as a key growth area for the company and are expanding in a big way to be close to customers in this strategically important region,” said John Kaznowski, regional director Middle East for Rexel IPG.

Rexel IPG currently has a number of projects in the region in four key market segments: oil and gas, infrastructure and industrial, power generation, and mining, and provides a full range of specialised electrical services and solutions to help customers manage their electrical material requirements, and optimise time, quality, and costs.

“From engineering to procurement and construction, the execution of large capital projects can pose many challenges. That is why working with reliable partners to support and manage complexity is critical.

“Combining product and technical knowledge, specialised sourcing and project management expertise, and by leveraging the scale and capabilities of the Rexel Group, we can focus on deploying the right supply chain solutions to deliver performance and reduce the client’s total cost of ownership,” said Kaznowski.

The services offered by Rexel IPG cover technical application assistance, supply chain consolidation, project management solutions and project logistic services, including cable management.

The company helps clients design efficient electrical solutions, select the right products and optimise material take-offs. It sources its products from a complete range of electrical vendors that meet all applicable industry standards, including electrical bulk, cables and engineered equipment.

“We work to ensure full technical compliance, for example, cable, lighting, power distribution, and only source from reputable vendors as well as from best-cost countries, applying strict quality process. Our complete set of project management solutions ensures quality, on-time delivery and fully transparent communication with the client,” added Kaznowski.

Kaznowski explained that working in project teams, Rexel IPG can define and monitor clients’ project-specific execution plans, anticipate and mitigate risks, and optimise schedules. Rexel IPG also has experience of working with expediting and construction teams to design tailored on- or off-site material management and ensure that inventory and delivery are adapted to the customer’s needs to help reduce surplus.

Supplying Rexel IPG customers, the Rexel Group has stocking locations across the globe which are able to collectively deliver more than 100,000 SKUs (stock keeping units) from thousands of suppliers directly to project sites, and more than 50,000 product references can be made available for next-day delivery.
