Imdaad-WMS to build recycling plant

Imdaad, a leading provider of integrated facilities management solutions in the GCC, is planning to develop a new waste separation system in Dubai under a new partnership with WMS Metal Industries, a local company that specialises in the design and manufacture environmental products.

The agreement was signed on the sidelines of the FM Expo and Middle East Waste and Recycling event held last month (May 18 to 20) in Dubai.

According to Imdaad, the novel recycling initiative is the first of its kind in the world, and is expected to divert approximately 2,000 tonnes of waste annually from the landfill.

The new system will be installed by WMS Metal Industries and will be retrofitted on the existing garbage chutes installed in the community. This will allow ease of recycling for all tenants. Imdaad’s role will be to launch an awareness campaign along with the collection and recycling of the waste from the development.

Caterpillar to build training centre

Caterpillar is set to build a ‘regional training centre’ in Dubai, at an investment of more than $7 million for the Middle East and Africa (MEA) region.

The 1,700-sq-m centre will offer hands-on machines and power systems technical and sales training to Caterpillar’s dealers and customers in the MEA region. It will employ about 40 people, mostly high-level technical staff who will primarily be recruited from the region, the company said.

Currently, more than 7,000 technicians at Cat dealers in the region have some of the most direct connections with Caterpillar customers as they service and maintain their equipment.

The training they will receive at the new centre will help to enhance their skills and knowledge on both product and the latest product support technologies. It will be located at Caterpillar’s Middle East parts distribution centre and regional sales and marketing office in Jebel Ali. It is expected to be operational in the last quarter of this year.
