Some of the leading contractors in the UAE are using formwork systems from Germany’s Paschal-Werk G Maier to facilitate work and speed up the execution of a number of their key projects in Dubai.

Paschal Concrete Forms, the regional office of the German formwork manufacturer, through its Dubai branch office has seen these modular panel systems being used on a diverse range of projects including residential compounds, hotels and apartment buildings, substations and water tanks.

The company has supplied its formwork to key contractors in the UAE including Seidco General Contracting, ANC Contracting, Al Shafar General Contracting, Transemirates Contracting, Becon Construction, Abu Hail Contracting and Al Ashram Contracting, among others, says Amir Delghandi, general director of Paschal Concrete Forms.

According to Delghandi, Seidco General Contracting is using Paschal formwork for the construction of major projects by leading UAE-based developer Damac Properties.  These include the Akoya clubhouse, where Paschal formwork is helping shape the columns; and Prive by Damac in Business Bay, Dubai, where the formwork is being used in the construction of retaining walls, columns and shear walls.

Al Shafar General Contracting is using Paschal formwork in the construction of vertical elements of a range of projects in the emirate. These include the BlueWaters residential development, a primary school extension in Jumeirah, an enterprise command and control centre building in Umm Ramool, and the second and third phases of Green Community expansion at Motor City.

Transemirates Contracting has deployed Paschal systems to build retaining walls, columns and core walls on two of its key projects; a five-storey residential and commercial building with two basement levels in Hamriya, and a two-storey residential and commercial building with a basement level in Jumeirah First.

Three hotels on Dubai’s prestigious Palm Jumeirah are also being constructed with the help of Paschal formwork: the seven-storey W Resort Hotel and Residences, where the system is being utilised by Terraverde to build double-sided reinforced concrete walls; and a seven-storey five-star hotel apartments and a seven-storey four-star hotel, where the formwork is being used by General Construction Company and ANC Contracting respectively for all the vertical elements.

Paschal systems were employed to build the W Resort Hotel and Residences in Dubai.

In fact, Paschal’s modular panel system has been proving particularly popular in the construction of vertical components on a variety of projects, Delghandi points out. Three other contractors are using the formwork to build all verticals on their projects. Trojan General Contracting has deployed the system for the construction of 489 villas at Nakheel’s residential development at Nad Al Sheba; while Al Hassan Engineering Dubai is taking advantage of the ease of use of the system in the construction of a 132/11 kV substation at Jumeirah Hills; and Becon Construction is utilising it for the vertical components of a four-storey residential building in Jumeirah Village Circle.

Becon Construction is also using Paschal formwork for two other commercial and residential buildings in Jumeirah Village Circle.  Here, the formwork is helping shape water tanks at the complex which comprises two 17-storey buildings on three podium levels.

Among other contractors that are benefiting from the system are Abu Hail Contracting, which has employed Paschal formwork to build walls and a water tank at a four-level hotel building project in Naif; and Al Ashram Contracting which is utilising the system in constructing retaining walls and a water tank at a seven-storey residential building project in Phase Three of International City.

Paschal’s modular panels were also used in the construction of vertical elements at Platinum Residences, a commercial and residential building in Tecom, the City Walk Development, a prestigious development consisting of several residential blocks and retail areas, and Duja Tower car-park building.

Meanwhile, in Sharjah, Fajer Al Sharq Construction is using the formwork for a water tank at the Iftiqar project in Al Majaz.

“Paschal modular formwork is designed to provide contractors with a modern shuttering for use on any type of concrete structure,” says Delghandi. “Due to the flexibility, durability and versatility of these formwork panels, contractors can use them for footings, ground beams, columns, lift shafts, walls, as well as staircases, enabling them to reduce their costs by up to 30 per cent,” he adds.
