Arabtec has won a Dh1.7-billion ($462.85 million) contract from the UAE federal government to build 1,100 houses for Emirati nationals in the Northern Emirate of Fujairah.

Arabtec, 36-per cent owned by Abu Dhabi state fund Aabar Investments, said construction would begin immediately and is expected to take about two-and-a-half years.

Meanwhile, Arabtec Holding has been awarded a contract to build a Dh1.1-billion ($300 million) twin-towers project in central Dubai. Comprising 50-storey towers, the project includes residential apartments with a total area of more than 227,800 sq m, the company said. Construction will start imminently and last two-and-a-half years, Reuters reported.
