Bahrain’s Ministry of Works, Municipalities Affairs and Urban Planning has invited prequalification bids from Saudi/Bahraini contractors or Saudi-led consortiums for the second phase of its North Manama Causeway (fourth Muharraq Bridge) and Busaiteen Link project.

The work includes reclamation and dredging, general filling works and marine works for the project, which is financed by Saudi Fund for Development. Aecom is the project’s consultant.

Bids are also sought from Saudi/Bahraini firms or Saudi-led joint ventures or consortiums for development of roads and structures for the Busaiteen project.

The project will be implemented in three stages, the first of which comprised reclamation and levelling works, preparation of traffic studies and completion of the documents related to Stage Two. Stage Two comprises civil works and paving the dirt lanes of the road. In parallel, engineering designs for the marine causeway and the main interchange linked to North Manama Causeway will be implemented in Stage Three of the project.

The road is 7.8 km long – 4.2 km for the ring lane and 3.6 km for the fourth flyover extension located between the interchange at the entrance to Saya Project and North Manama Causeway.
