More than three dozen exhibitions will be part of the large German pavilion at Saudi Build to showcase top quality German products, services and expertise and renew the European country’s commitment to Saudi Arabia.

The pavilion, which hosts 37 companies, has the blessing of the German government and non-governmental organisations including the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy (BMWi) that decides on, and supports official participation in international trade fairs.

The pavilion is also supported by the Association of the German Trade Fair Industry (Auma) which represents the interests of the trade fair industry on a national and international level.

Commenting on the participation at Saudi Build, Oliver Oehms, a delegate of the German Industry and Commerce for Saudi Arabia, Bahrain and Yemen (AHK Saudi Arabia), says: “Saudi Arabia stands out as one of the most important markets in the Middle East in terms of business activities in general and the building sector in particular. The Saudi construction market is likely to increase in size as the country plans to invest $806 billion in upcoming projects, planned until 2030.

“And with the population expected to double over the next 20 years and the increase in living standards, there is a huge need for all kinds of modern construction products, equipment and solutions.”

He says AHK Saudi Arabia focuses on promoting technologies for sustainable development while meeting the highest quality expectations in the construction sector.

German exhibiting companies and the German economy in general that is transferring know-how and state-of-the-art building technologies to Saudi Arabia are actively supported by the German-Saudi Arabian Liaison Office for Economic Affairs, Oehms says.

Most of the exhibitors are returning to the Saudi Build exhibition this year for the fourth or fifth time, according to the AHK. Amongst the exhibiting companies are renowned names like Paschal-Werk G Maier, an international specialist for concrete formwork, support systems and formwork planning software. It will present wall, column and shaft formwork systems as well as the H20 beam in combination with the TG60 shoring structure for high, horizontal concrete structures (see Page 84).

Peri Saudi Arabia is another exhibitor which for more than 40 years, has been considered a competent partner of construction companies for formwork and scaffolding technology. It is present in 65 markets around the world with 67 subsidiaries and 110 logistical centres (see Page 90).

Other key exhibitors include Ebawe Anlagentechnik, Ultra-Span Technologies, Reckli and Poloplast.

Ebawe Anlagentechnik of the Progress Group provides plants and single machines for the manufacture of precast concrete panels, reinforcement machinery, mould systems and software for precast plants called ebos. It annually manufactures 10 large plants for the region, in addition to a variety of stand-alone machinery and equipment. It has also been manufacturing precast concrete products for 50 years.

Another member of the Progress Group, Ultra-Span Technologies will promote its hollowcore extrusion machinery and ancillary equipment for the prestressed concrete industry.

Reckli’s name stands out for freedom of design in forming concrete. For 45 years, it has been offering architectural concrete that meets the highest demands on design and individuality. A trusted manufacturer of reusable, elastic shapes and formliners, Reckli offers more than 200 ready-made designs with imaginative, stone, brickwork, wooden, plastered, ribbed, wavey as well as functional patterns.

Poloplast, meanwhile, will be showcasing its Polo line of plastic pipe systems for plumbing, sewage and water supply installations. It will be showcasing the Polo-UV ML5 pipe, which is a further development of the Polo-Ecosan ML5 pipe. Thanks to its ultra-violet (UV)-resistant layer, the pipe is particularly suitable for laying of supply lines in outdoor areas, such as drinking water, irrigation, heating and cooling water systems. The Polo-UV ML5 pipe can be welded directly, with no need of peeling off the outer layer.

Other exhibitors include Plattenhardt + Wirth, a specialist and European leader in coldroom construction; Assyx, which manufactures the high quality production pallets known as Assyx DuroBoard; aquatherm, a manufacturer of plastic pipe systems in the sanitary and heating sector; Birco/Birco Middle East, a leading supplier of channel systems in Europe, which manufactures sustainable channel drainage systems from concrete, steel and polyethylene; BFS Betonfertigteilesysteme, which produces high quality machines for the production of prefabricated concrete pipes, manhole and box culverts, pressure pipes, poles and piles, railway sleepers and wetcast elements; Masa, which provides a complete range of machinery for the building materials industry including batching/mixing, concrete blocks/pavers/kerbs/slabs, sand lime bricks and AAC (aerated autoclaved concrete) products; and Probst, a global leader of handling and laying systems.

German companies also exhibited at the Big 5 Saudi held earlier this year (March 7 to 10) at the Jeddah Centre for Forums and Events in Jeddah.
