To reiterate its commitment to the region, Brett Martin will be at The Big 5 Show for the fifth consecutive year, showcasing glazing and rooflight solutions that are suited to the demands of the Middle Eastern market.

The UK-based manufacturer offers a leading range of high-performance polycarbonate roofing and glazing sheets, FRP (fibre-reinforced plastic) rooflights and bespoke rooflight systems, backed by a team of product specialists and engineers dedicated to providing the highest standards of service.

At The Big 5, Brett Martin will be on hand to discuss project requirements, plans for the region, and demonstrate its world-class range of rooflights and glazing materials.

“For over 50 years, Brett Martin has built its reputation on quality and reliability,” says a spokesman for the company. “As well as ongoing investment in the latest manufacturing technologies, innovation and product development, the manufacturer and supplier demonstrates total commitment to quality – with more than 250 product certifications and assurances throughout the product range.”

With export credentials spanning more than 70 countries worldwide, Brett Martin has a team of experienced product specialists, engineers, and sales and service personnel who support projects in the Gulf region.

The company has strong local representation with the Dubai-based Brett Martin DWC offering bespoke technical back-up and product expertise across the region.

“Our permanent presence in the Middle East makes it easier for our customers to do business with us,” explains David Biggs, general manager of Brett Martin DWC. “From design and specification through to installation and completion, we will provide advice and guidance to ensure every project in the Middle East is completed to the highest standard.”

Multiple solution provider

Rooflights and glazing systems, being the most effective way to introduce natural daylight into buildings, can transform internal spaces, says the spokesman.

Brett Martin’s Marlon polycarbonate range of high-performance plastics offer complete design flexibility and can be used for a number of applications across the commercial, industrial, agricultural and horticultural sectors.

The range includes Marlon CS Longlife, Marlon FS range, Marlon ST multiwall and Marlon Clickfix1040.

Elaborating on the products, he says: “Marlon CS Longlife polycarbonate comes with a co-extruded ultraviolet (UV)-protection layer and carries a 10-year warranty on light transmission. The product was used in the transformation of the former Olympic stadium in London, where Brett Martin was able to demonstrate how combining the company’s technical expertise and product versatility could deliver exceptional results.

“The Marlon FS range of flat polycarbonate glazing, available in thicknesses from 0.75 to 15 mm, provides high impact-resistance without compromising light transparency. At only half the weight of glass, it’s easier to handle and install and remains flexible enough to be thermoformed, cold bent or fabricated, offering brilliant design flexibility.

“For superior insulation performance in a range of structures from 4 to 55 mm, Marlon ST multiwall polycarbonate offers U-values as low as 0.83 W/sq m K for roofing and glazing applications. Available in clear for maximum daylight and a range of solar controlling and heat reflecting tints, Marlon ST provides an ideal glazing solution for a wide range of applications in the Middle East.”

For light, bright and naturally lit spaces, he says Marlon Clickfix1040 is the complete architectural glazing system. Developed by Brett Martin’s in-house product development team, Marlon Clickfix1040’s tongue-and-groove connections simply interlock to form glazed areas of unlimited size and shape.

Marlon Clickfix1040 comprises lightweight 40 mm 10-wall polycarbonate panels. With thermally broken aluminium profiles, fixing clips and rubber gaskets, the installation is quick and efficient with no need for vertical profiles, reducing both material costs and installation time, he says. It can also be used for roofs, as cladding or partitioning, internally or externally.

Some 10,000 sq m of Marlon Clickfix1040 panel glazing system was used to create the stunning vertical façade at Emirates airline’s newest aircraft hangar at Dubai International Airport. The 25,000-sq-m maintenance hangar accommodates four Airbus A380s, the world’s largest passenger airliner. To provide maximum natural daylight and create a safe and healthy internal working environment, Marlon Clickfix1040 was installed as a vertical glazing element around the entire building perimeter.

Marlon Clickfix1040 has full ASTM testing and is EN fire tested to the highest level (B-s1, d0 to EN13501-1), the spokesman says.

FRP

With extended weathering capabilities and options, Brett Martin offers Trilite FRP which has been designed to satisfy a wide range of specification requirements for light transmission, safety levels, U-values and fire ratings of virtually any project. Supplied translucent, colour tinted or opaque, Trilite can also be designed to meet a range of architectural design and cladding specifications.

Available in an extensive range of profiles, the tried and trusted Trilite range is suitable for built-up roof systems or composite sandwich panels and can be produced to fully comply with the fire standard requirements of Dubai Civil Defence (DCD), he says.

Skylights

Meanwhile, its range of barrel vault skylights include options in glass-reinforced plastic (GRP) and polycarbonate. The Multivault SSR skylight is specifically designed for aluminium standing seam roofing, commonly used on buildings throughout the region.

A popular choice at sporting facilities, more than 2,700 sq m of Multivault GRP rooflights were installed and have created an exceptionally light and bright environment at the spectacular Commonwealth Arena and Sir Chris Hoy Velodrome in Glasgow – known for sponsorship reasons as the Emirates Arena.

Brett Martin is one of the UK’s most successful independent manufacturing companies with facilities audited to stringent British Quality standards BS EN 9001 and the BS EN 14000 environmental standard. With the largest polycarbonate extrusion site in Europe, and the widest range of products available from a single-source supplier, Brett Martin has built a reputation for plastic rooflighting and glazing materials. Its product portfolio includes an impressive range of plastic sheets, factory engineered rooflight systems and plumbing and drainage systems.

Brett Martin will be on Stand D121, Sheikh Saeed Hall.
