Thomas Bell-Wright recently launched its new certification mark, which was promoted at The Big 5 show last month.

Established in Dubai in 1993, it has grown from a small façade consultancy into one of the largest curtain-wall testing houses in the region and the number one domestic provider of product testing and certification of building components for Civil Defence approval.

“A certification body needs to have a Mark – a symbol to confirm that it has certified the products tested,” said a spokesman for the company. “For our mark, we have commissioned an artist to produce a beautiful rendering of a falcon as an Arabic monogram of the word ‘mutamad’ which means certified, dependable, trustworthy, and we have superimposed it on our logo which already enjoys significant brand recognition.”

He said it’s difficult to become a certification body. “After all your procedures and systems are in place, you have to be audited and approved by an accreditation body.

“Our accreditation body for most of our testing and for our certification programme is UKAS, one of the most recognised, and they conduct a full audit on us at least annually.”

Thomas Bell-Wright has recently moved from Ras Al Khor to Jebel Ali outside the free zone in a Dubai Municipality industrial area. Its new premises are three times the size of its previous one, facilitating future expansion and enabling it to explore new areas of testing and certification or provide those services for different industries.
