The innovative trends in streetlighting and the benefits to the society will be highlighted at the upcoming Middle East Smart Lighting and Energy Summit 2015 in the UAE.

The event, now in its fourth year, will be held on November 23 and 24 at Etihad Tower in Abu Dhabi – a city which has been making remarkable strides in implementing smart streetlighting projects, said Expotrade, a global conference and event organiser, which is organising the event.

According to Expotrade, the city of Abu Dhabi has emerged as a front-runner in implementing intelligent lighting projects and has successfully positioned itself as a benchmark in lighting technology innovations in the GCC. With an aim to equip all streets of Abu Dhabi with smart intelligent lighting solutions, Abu Dhabi Municipality has been instrumental in helping the city undergo a massive transformation by replacing its traditional streetlights with power-saving LED (light emitting diode) systems.

The municipality has adopted a lighting strategy that offers a host of benefits, from ensuring improved lighting services and safety on the road to enhanced customer satisfaction; from drastically cutting maintenance savings to reducing light pollution and carbon dioxide (CO2) emission. As part of its extensive strategy, the municipality’s focus lay on applying smart streetlighting solutions across the city’s arterial and internal roads, highways, traffic-prone areas, pedestrian crossings and parking areas, the organiser said.
