Work on King Hamad Causeway, the second link between Bahrain and Saudi Arabia, is “on track” and final touches are being put to the financial aspect of the project, according to a top minister.

Environmental studies on the proposed link parallel to King Fahad Causeway had been completed, said Bahrain’s Transportation and Telecommunications Minister Kamal Ahmed.

“Saudi officials are scheduled to visit in January after which we will be able to hire someone to co-ordinate the project,” he said. “It’s a huge project, with 25 km in the sea and stretching 21 km in Bahrain to the port.”

However, he refused to comment on the Bahrain-Qatar Friendship Bridge.
