The Saudi government is working on development projects worth SR14.6 billion ($3.89 billion), including a new airport, the Souk Okaz City as well as an industrial city in the Makkah province, and other road, water and electricity projects, said a report.

The projects, coming up in the governorates of Taif, Mawiyyah and Meesan include New Taif costing a total of SR11 billion, SR899 million worth of road networks, water projects valued at SR1.8 billion, SR500-million health faciliities, SR1.4 billion of electricity projects and SR100 million of education facilities, reported the Saudi Gazette, citing Prince Khaled Al Faisal, emir of Makkah.

Work is progressing on priority projects such as new Taif International Airport, Okaz City, Technology Oasis, residential suburb, industrial city and university city, he added.
