Golf club set for major revamp

Abu Dhabi Airports said it is set to revamp the Al Ghazal Golf Club and sports resort, the only sand golf course in the emirate, and transform it into the “most luxurious resort for sport lovers and families”.

The resort will feature a state-of-the-art paintball park, wall climbing facility, a technologically advanced simulation golf room, a skate board park, tennis courts, a shooting range, football pitch area, a fully outfitted gymnasium and a spa.

It will also offers the amenities for MTV biking as well as a cycling and jogging track, and sand boarding. Most of these activities will be readily available by the year-end, while the others will be worked on progressively, Abu Dhabi Airports said.

Dubai plans largest open museum

Dubai Municipality is collaborating with the Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing and the Dubai Culture and Arts Authority to establish the largest cultural project in the heart of the historical Shindagha region, said a report.

The project will include the largest open museum with various exhibitions on the history and heritage of Dubai, said a report in WAM.

Parallel Roads Phase Two opens

Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) opened Phase Two of the Parallel Roads Improvement Project at Business Bay last month.

Works under this phase included improvements to the western part of the Parallel Roads. It has been undertaken as part of the RTA’s strategic plan to ease snarls on the Sheikh Zayed Road, it said.

On the project, Mattar Al Tayer, the director-general and chairman of the board of executive directors of the RTA, said: “Phase Two covered the construction of a 240-m flyover on the intersection of Al Sa’ada and Burj Khalifa Boulevard streets, a 535-m underpass at the intersection of Al Sa’ada and the Business Bay streets, and a 500-m bridge along the extension of Al Sa’ada Street over the Dubai Water Canal.”

The project also involved the construction of a 420-m bridge at the intersection of Al Meydan and First Al Khail streets, a 420-m tunnel for left turns from Al Sa’ada Street to Meydan Street, and a 340-m underpass for horses crossing at the Dubai Stables.
