Hansgrohe says it offers comfort and safety in all phases of life and also for the physically and mentally challenged with its Unica Comfort shower range.

“Reduced mobility can change the daily routines of people of all ages,” says a spokesman for the German bathrooms specialist. “In any new kind of living situation, what your customers do not want to do is to completely redesign the bathroom or to have to compromise on attractive design. The hansgrohe Unica Comfort shower range takes all requirements into account. Thanks to TÜV-tested safety features, it offers the whole family extra support, flexibility and comfort – with considerably less risk of slipping in the shower or bathtub.

The range includes a sturdy brass wall bar, which is chrome-plated and 25-mm thick and offers a secure grip up to 200 kg.

With an extra shower support on the Comfort grab bar, the hand shower can be positioned wherever convenient on the right or left – and can also be reached comfortably from a sitting position.

The complete package offers two highly-functional innovative features: Comfort foot support and Comfort grab bar. Both offer sturdy anchoring points when showering and bathing, and provide real added value.

Explaining the need for the bars, the spokesman says reduced mobility and seemingly simple movements become increasingly difficult as one ages. Even daily activities such as taking a shower or a bath can pose a real challenge. As vital as a refreshing shower or a relaxing bath are for physical and mental well-being, wet floors and insufficient grab bars can be dangerous.

“But solutions and aids are also available for the bathroom. Walk-in showers enable barrier-free access. Slip-resistant floors and grab handles for support when getting in and out of the shower provide additional stability,” he adds.

Different versions of the 1.10-m Unica Comfort shower bar are available for vertical and horizontal installation. They are complemented by customised and detachable shower caddies for toiletries and a matching footrest with a non-slip surface which provides stability.

Hansgrohe has also made showering user-friendly and more fun with  another product from its range – RainSelect that has the easy-to-use Select button feature.

Users can select the desired spray by simply tapping the easy-to-read paddles in the same way they would use a light switch. Water temperature and volume are set by turning the two generously-sized dials. These easy and comfortable controls make it possible to enjoy a relaxing shower experience without the hassle of having to deal with complicated bathroom technology. The controls can be used with wet or soapy hands and a minimum of effort. Besides, the prominent paddles can be of great help even to children and younger people.

Meanwhile, at the washbasin too, hansgrohe has become a bit more intuitive with its new mixers equipped with Select technology. Realising that washbasins are used many times a day, ease of use becomes a key factor, says the spokesman.

“The washbasin should be barrier-free and accessible for people in wheelchairs. The mixer is the centrepiece of every washbasin.
