Galleria ... set to open doors in February.

Work on a new open-layout mall in Bahrain is nearly 95 per cent complete with its doors set to open in February next year, the developer has said.

Bahraini conglomerate Dadabhai Group said Galleria, located in Zinj, is an open-layout family shopping and recreation destination sprawling across an area of 30,000 sq m with a total built-up area of more than 42,000 sq m.

The multi-million-dinar mall will also include a 12,800-sq-m hypermarket, extending over two floors. The main contractor is Dadabhai Construction whose chief executive Ajith Kumar said new techniques and processes were used in the building and its construction is in line with international standards of quality and safety. He said the project had achieved 680,000 manhours at site without any loss time incident.

“Electricals, cladding installation, painting, pipelines for firefighting works and the remaining heating, ventilation, and air-conditioning works are in the final stage of completion,” Kumar said.

The contractor expects to start handing over units to tenants this month (October) so they can begin fit-outs, he added.

The project’s exclusive leasing agent and manager is Pegasus Real Estate whose managing director Aziz Mithaiwala said 90 per cent of Galleria was leased out. Mithaiwala said tenants that who already signed up include a major hypermarket brand as the anchor store, apparel boutiques, home furnishing, coffee shops, casual dining restaurants, pharmacies and banks.

According to him, a key attraction of the mall will be its clean, minimalist layout featuring greater floor space and walkways.
