A redesign of the BeamTech and BeamLite II ranges means that they can now be used in areas where aesthetics is important, such as in entertainment venues.

Eaton, a US-headquartered multinational power management company, has launched BeamTech and BeamLite II – two new ranges of emergency lighting that offer a complete solution for all large open-plan areas in the Gulf region.

The individual luminaires can offer wide and narrow light distribution from the smallest, most aesthetic light fitting currently available for such applications, Hussein Magdy, product manager – Emergency Lighting Systems at Eaton Middle East, tells Gulf Construction.

“Rated at IP65 ingress protection and with an IK03 impact resistance, the new range is ideal for industrial applications such as factories or warehouses, but a complete redesign of the product means that it can now also be used in areas where aesthetics is important, such as in entertainment venues and shopping malls,” he says.

The individual light heads on both BeamTech and BeamLite II can rotate through 360 degrees and incline by up to 90 degrees, so they have all the functionality of older solutions but from a smaller better-looking alternative, Magdy explains.

Electronic focus programming on the BeamTech and BeamLite II ranges allow the 12 dedicated LEDs in each lamp head to be set up for a wide light distribution for anti-panic lighting or narrow focused lighting to illuminate escape routes or emergency equipment such as alarms and fire extinguishers.

For general anti-panic lighting, the light from each lamp head covers a floor area of up to 30 m with an optimum spacing between luminaires of 36.8 m (43.1 m) for 1 lux (0.5 lux) illumination, with a special consideration for the average 10.8 lux requirements.

This is a greater area than that covered by most other products, so fewer fittings are generally needed to cover a given space, Magdy points out.

Both product ranges are installed with Lithium-ion batteries which can be operated in temperatures of 5 to 40 degrees C, providing ideal lighting solutions for the Gulf region.

Both ranges are ENEC certified and EN60598-2-22 compliant.

The two new ranges come in variants of 200 lumens (lm), 400 lm, and 800 lm, with each light head having the capacity to reach up to 400 lumens maximum.

They can be specified for a wide range of applications, such as warehouse, supermarkets, concert halls, theatres, museums, sports centres, stadiums, factories, industrial facilities, shopping malls, commercial buildings, healthcare, and transport-related buildings.
