Deira Waterfront Development ... CSCEC will develop Plots 9 and 10 in Phase One.

Beijing-based China State Construction Engineering Corporation (CSCEC) says it has secured a construction contract worth Dh430 million ($120 million) from Deira Waterfront Development for its key project in Dubai, UAE.

As per the deal, CSCEC will develop Plots 9 and 10 in Phase One of Deira Waterfront Development located along Al Rasheed Road (Dubai Corniche), in close proximity to some the most scenic spots, such as Dubai Museum and Gold Suq.

The major scope of work includes structural, MEP (mechanical, electrical and plumbing), fit out, landscaping as well as other related external auxiliary works.

The mega development, which spans over 5 km of waterfront, is located in the northern part of Deira District, facing the Deira Islands.

The project’s masterplan envisages the expansion of the Deira Waterfront in two phases, making it the centrepiece of the district. The plan includes many new retail spaces, from shops to storage areas, and a strip of restaurants and retail stores along the creek, creating a bustling promenade with a range of hotels.

The project will also boast community components such as plazas, parks, bicycle tracks and transportation hubs. The existing retail shops, hotels, commercial zones, parking garages and storage areas will also be improved to fit the scheme of the mixed-use development.

As the waterfront project progresses, an important part of the masterplan is the close integration with the expansion of the Deira Wharfage and its growing opportunities for local merchants to conduct their businesses in their original forms, according to AE7, which is providing a range of design services for the Deira Waterfront project.

Meanwhile, in April, CSCEC ME had signed the letter of acceptance (LoA) from Emaar Development for another major Dubai project - the Grande on Plot B4 worth Dh760 million. The project is located along Sheikh Zayed Road, beside the Burj Khalifa. The scope of works includes construction of a 70-storey building comprising 882 residential apartments, two pent houses and mechanical, electrical and plumbing (MEP)-related works.

During the same month, CSCEC signed another LoA from Dubai’s Road & Transport Authority (RTA) to serve as the main contractor for R1013/2D Al Shindagha Corridor Project worth Dh710 million.
