UAE-based Metito (Overseas) Limited has installed a sea water desalination plant to supply 150,000 gallons of water a day to the Dreamland Aqua Park in Umm Al Quwain.

The company, which has its headquarters for Europe, Asia and Africa in Sharjah, installed the state-of-the-art reverse osmosis plant to treat seawater for the swimming pools and range of water slides and features at the water park.

The park, which attracts more than 250,000 visitors every year, has four million gallons of water in its pools and slides but requires freshly treated water every day to replace that lost through evaporation and spillage.

Metito regional managing director Fady Juez said: "As a UAE-based company we are delighted to use our expertise and technology to help deliver quality treated water every day for the highly demanding requirements of the water park.

"The quality and safety of the treated water is of paramount importance to a visitor attraction like this and we are proud to be making our contribution to the local tourism industry."

The scope of work for Metito included turn key design, engineering, fabrication, supply, installation and commissioning. Water treated by the company is suitable for both drinking and pool use.

Dreamland Aqua Park deputy manager Nabil Barakat said: "The safety and enjoyment of our visitors is paramount and we need to ensure they enjoy themselves in an aquatic environment that has water treated to the highest standards.

"We have found that Metito is a quality company which can respond to our needs quickly and professionally and help to ensure that we deliver a first class experience to over 250,000 people who visit us every year."

Metito is involved in wastewater treatment, desalination and water supply projects and has its factory and laboratory facility in the Hamriya Free Zone.

It was founded in 1958 by Farouk Ghandour, its chairman, and has project management capabilities to undertake similar and larger projects worldwide.
