Alshaya Trading Company is one of the premier commercial establishments in the Gulf region.
The group has derived its strength from its recognised management quality, innovative strategies, best employer culture and substantial financial resources, which are focused on developing successful business relationships with international business partners. The company – which deals primarily in sanitary ware, tiles, kitchens, wooden flooring, mixers, bathroom accessories, commercial kitchen equipment and industrial shelving in the UAE – has embarked on an expansion and diversification drive.According to Ananth Narayan, regional manager (trading division), the group will soon diversify into bedroom furniture and will also open a new showroom with an exclusive high-end complete bedroom concept called And So to Bed from the UK. Its other expansion plan includes the construction of a new 5,000 sq m warehouse in Al Quoz area of Dubai. “Aesthetics, excellent customer service, key product availability and value addition in terms of product designing are the key factors for our success. We design bathrooms and kitchens free of charge. We can customise the products to suit individual requirements,” he says.“We currently operate through a total of three showrooms with a design facility and focus on the high end of the market through a highly professional project-oriented sales organisation – which is involved in getting Alshaya’s range of products specified by the consultants,” says Narayan. The company’s state-of-the-art showrooms in Dubai and Abu Dhabi are constantly re-designed to incorporate the latest trends. The Dubai showroom, in fact, has a number of mini-showrooms within the facility, each focusing on different products and offering customers a wide choice of designs to choose from. The showroom also features specially designed and customised tile displays featuring a wide variety of tiles from Italy and Spain. “Recently we have added a new water area, which is a live demonstration of how the sanitary products function. We also have a dedicated mixer area, exclusively for Kludi products.“According to an independent survey, 80 per cent of end-users visit our showroom prior to making a purchase decision which shows a very high Alshaya brand recall,” he adds.Alshaya represents more than 30 leading manufacturers, mainly from Europe and the US, including a few exclusive ones:• Tiles – Cooperativa Ceramica D’Imola and ABK Ceramics from Italy, Cimic of China and Cerypsa from Spain;• Glass blocks – Fidenza Vetroarredo, Italy;• Adhesives from BAL of the UK;• Sanitary ware – Keramag, Germany, Pozzi Ginori, Italy and Doulton from the UK;• Whirlpool steam showers from Teuco of Italy;• Mixers from Kludi, Germany;• Wooden kitchens from Nobilia Kitchens, Germany;•Hardware flooring from Junckers, Denmark and Egger from Austria; and• Washroom equipment from Bobrick of the US and Keuco, Germany. The company’s representatives regularly visit major exhibitions worldwide. “We constantly upgrade and launch new products, ensuring that we are the first to bring in the latest trends to the region. We are quick to identify market needs and bring in products based on that. “Our business philosophy has been different from our competitors. We have strongly promoted ‘Alshaya as a brand’ rather than the individual brands we represent,” says Narayan.“The company is also in regular touch with the consultants and conducts at least two seminars every year, along with our principals, to make the consultants aware of the latest developments worldwide,” he concludes. Some of the projects to which Alshaya has supplied are Skywalk Towers, Dubai International Airport expansion, underpasses, Sheikha Latifa Building renovation, villas at Emaar Lakes, Dubai World Trade Centre convention halls, Grand Hyatt Dubai, 3,600 apartments in Jebel Ali Gardens project, American University Dubai, Emirates Office Tower, Burj Al Arab, Jumeirah Beach Hotel, Jumeirah Islands, Le Meridien Hotel Jumeirah, Madinat Jumeirah (all in Dubai), Le Meridien (Fujairah), Etisalat administration building, Adco-Gasco building and Ruwais housing (all in Abu Dhabi).
