Despite being relatively new in the Middle East, the Dubai office of LC Consulting has, in a short time, earned a reputation in the region for providing innovative and economical design solutions by using the latest technology.

“The fact that our team of professionals make use of the latest communications technology has given us an edge over our competition,” says a spokesman for the civil and structural engineering concern, which provides private sector commercial property development consultancy.
Currently, LC Consulting is acting as the professional team coordinator on a 40-storey high-rise office building in Kuwait – The Gate of Kuwait – and on a large retail development in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. It has also offered design solutions for Dubai’s impressive resort property – the Madinat Jumeirah, where LC acted as structural engineering consultant on the main Al Qasr hotel as well as the health spa, banqueting and multifunction buildings.
Founded in 1947 and currently operating from Johannesburg, Cape Town and Dubai, the company’s principal focus of work is commercial property development. It is currently serving a growing international client base and has successfully completed projects in the UK, southern and eastern Africa and recently in the Middle East.
In over five decades of operations, LC Consulting has acted as civil/structural engineering consultant on some of the landmark projects in South Africa and the Middle East.
The list of projects on which the company has been involved include: Dubai Festival City; Royal Mirage Hotel, Madinat Jumeirah, Dubai Creek Resort; as well as a number of major leisure facilities, commercial complexes, malls and also the Johannesburg International Airport (Domestic Terminal), he adds.
LC Consulting was one of the first professional practices in the South African Construction Industry to have achieved ISO 9001 certification for structural and civil engineering, project management and materials handling in 1995.
It has been awarded the prestigious SAACE Design Award twice for its outstanding work for University of Port Elizabeth and the Old Mutual Centre in Johannesburg. The practice received a special award from the Institution of Structural Engineers in London for its innovative design of the 161 m free-span Dome at Northgate, South Africa.
Over the past six consecutive years, LC has also received the prestigious Golden Arrow Award for being voted the best-rated civil engineering practice by South Africa’s largest developers in the Professional Management Review’s Annual Survey, according to the spokesman.
