India to invest $375bn on infrastructure

The Indian government has recently announced a record spending of $375 billion to build and modernise its railways, airports, and roads.

India’s construction market is contributing to more than 8 per cent of the country’s GDP, employing some 35 million people, said a report.

Against this background, the leading B2B trade show for the Indian building and construction community, The Big 5 Construct India, will come back from September 14 to 16 at the Bombay Exhibition Centre.

The show is part of the largest, most influential and renowned portfolio of construction industry events spanning the Middle East, Africa and South East Asia.

“The Big 5 Construct India 2017 is an unmissable platform for industry professionals from around the globe eyeing at the booming Indian construction market,” portfolio exhibitions director Andy Pert said.

Gathering over 7,000 visitors from across the globe in 2016, The Big 5 Construct India will celebrate its fifth anniversary this year, with an array of innovative features for the local and regional construction community. A dedicated meetings programme will facilitate networking between exhibitors and buyers, while new Smart Cities, as well as Stone and Marble exhibition zones, will complement an already broad product sector offering, which includes MEP Services, Building Interiors & Finishes, Building Envelope & Special Construction, Construction Tools & Building Materials, Construction Technology, Plant, Machinery, and Vehicles.

Leading edge education will integrate The Big 5 Construct India’s business enabler platform. After last year’s success, three days of Continuing Professional Development (CPD) certified and free to attend workshops will be back in 2017, along with the annual conference hosted by the Builders Association of India (BAI) to engage the country’s most influential developer and contractor communities, shaping India’s future property landscape.

The vast educational content programme will be further enriched by a dedicated conference for Architects hosted by the Indian Institute of Architects (IIA) and supported by the Council of Architecture (COA) exclusively for their members to attend.

In recognition of the event’s proven contribution to the development of the Indian construction industry, the Ministry of Commerce has joined the Ministry of Urban Development in supporting The Big 5 Construct India 2017, organised by dmg events Middle East, Asia & Africa, and the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce & Industry (FICCI).
