India to invest $375bn in infrastructure projects


The Indian government, under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, has announced a record spending of $375 billion towards building and modernising its railways, airports, and roads.

The Asian country is expected to become the third largest construction market by 2030 as India progresses to fulfill Modi's plans for an India with hitech infrastructure, said experts ahead of a key industry event in Mumbai.

The Big 5 Construct India, the leading B2B trade show for the Indian building and construction community, will be back this September bigger than ever.  

Part of the largest, most influential and renowned portfolio of construction industry events spanning the Middle East, Africa and South East Asia, it will run from September 14 to 16 at the Bombay Exhibition Centre.

“The Big 5 Construct India 2017 is an unmissable platform for industry professionals from around the globe eying at the booming Indian construction market,” Portfolio Exhibitions Director, Andy Pert, said.

Gathering over 7,000 visitors from across the globe in 2016, The Big 5 Construct India will celebrate its fifth anniversary this year, with an array of innovative features for the local and regional construction community.

A dedicated meetings programme will facilitate networking between exhibitors and buyers, while new Smart Cities, as well as Stone and Marble exhibition zones, will complement an already broad product sector offering, which includes MEP Services, Building Interiors & Finishes, Building Envelope & Special Construction, Construction Tools & Building Materials, Construction Technology, Plant, Machinery, and Vehicles.    

Leading edge education will integrate The Big 5 Construct India’s business enabler platform. After last year’s success, three days of Continuing Professional Development (CPD) certified and free to attend workshops will be back in 2017, along with the Annual Conference hosted by the Builders Association of India (BAI) to engage the country’s most influential developer and contractor communities, shaping India’s future property landscape.

The vast educational content programme will be further enriched by a dedicated conference for Architects hosted by the Indian Institute of Architects (IIA) and supported by the Council of Architecture (COA) exclusively for their members to attend.   

In recognition of the event’s proven contribution to the development of the Indian construction industry, the Ministry of Commerce has joined the Ministry of Urban Development in supporting The Big 5 Construct India 2017, organised by dmg events Middle East, Asia & Africa, and the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce & Industry (FICCI).

"The Big 5 Construct India 2016 was an important fair for our company to enlarge the local customer base," stated Alfredo Baracchini, representing Steel-studio Mech studio.

"The average visitor in India is very curious and communicative, so we get interesting leads and first-hand feedback about our products,” he added.
