Emirates Global Aluminium (EGA) has announced the start-up of its $3.3-billion Al Taweelah alumina refinery, a strategic growth project that expands the industrial giant’s business upstream in the aluminium value chain.

Abu Dhabi General Services Company (Musanada) has announced the completion of the ‘Z35 Roads and Infrastructure Project’ valued at Dh280.7 million ($76.5 million) at Mohamed bin Zayed City in Abu Dhabi.

Azizi Developments, a leading private developer in the UAE, said it has completed more than 86 per cent of the construction work and 60 per cent of the external works at Farishta Azizi, its community development project located within Al Furjan in Dubai.

Dubai-based Damac Properties has announced the awarding of multiple contracts worth Dh430 million ($117 million) in the first quarter of 2019, as it moves ahead with key UAE projects. The contracts range from large construction works at Damac’s second master community, to final touch-ups for developments that are near completion in the UAE.

Majid Al Futtaim, the leading shopping mall and leisure pioneer across the Middle East, Africa and Asia, has launched My City Centre Masdar, a Dh300-million ($81 million) community project in Abu Dhabi.

Saudi Arabia has unveiled the design of its Expo 2020 Dubai pavilion, which will be second in size only to that of the UAE pavilion, covering an area the size of two football pitches.   The distinctive pavilion is said to symbolise the nation’s welcoming character, long heritage and unlimited drive.

The Dubai Exhibition Centre (DEC) at the Expo 2020 site will open for business on October 20, 2020, offering a meeting hub for the Expo and a major legacy asset for the UAE.

Sharjah government has announced the opening of its new 89-km-long Khor Fakkan Road, built at a cost of Dh6 billion ($1.6 billion), which will help reduce the travel time between the two cities to just 45 minutes, reported state news agency Wam.

Dubai Municipality has announced the opening of its Quranic Park, a first-of-its-kind project in the world, built at a cost of Dh200 million ($54.4 million) in Khawaneej over a sprawling 640,000-sq-m area.

Leading UAE developer Meraas has confirmed that its ambitious project, Ain Dubai, coming up in its Bluewaters island destination, will be completed in time for Expo 2020 Dubai gala event. Standing at over 250 m high, the structure will be over 200 per cent taller than the first ever Ferris wheel.

Route 2020 over 70pc completed Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) said work on the extension of Dubai Metro Red Line from Nakheel Harbour and Tower Station to the site of Expo 2020 was moving at a steady pace with over 70 per cent of the project already completed.
