Oman has allotted a total of 6,481 residential plots across the sultanate till the end of March with the governorate of A'Dakhiliyah getting the lion's share of 1,906 housing plots in the sultanate, said a report, reported Oman News Agency.

However, these figures were down 35.6 per cent over the same period in 2018, when the Ministry of Housing had allotted a total of 10,070 plots last year, stated the report, citing statistics released by the National Centre for Statistics and Information (NCSI).

Among the governorates, Muscat came second with 1,021 plots in the land allotment list, followed by Al Buraimi with 822 plots, with about 820 plots, South A'Sharqiyah with 776 plots and the Governorate of North A'Sharqiyah with 764 plots allotted till the end of March.

The governorates of South Al Batinah, Musandam, Dhofar, Al Wusta, and North Al Batinah (except Sohar) were allotted 373, 313, 158, 150, and 115 residential plots, respectively, stated the ONA report.

The Governorate of A'Dhahirah was allotted 83 plots, which is the lowest among the governorates, it added.
