Leading Dubai developer Nakheel has officially opened its new retail complex and multi-storey car-park at Dragon City following the revamp work thus adding new shops, better access and more convenience to customers.

The Dh169-million ($46 million) expansion work was carried out to mainly meet the growing customer demand at Dragon Mart, where more than 1,700 Chinese tradesmen and women operate 5,000 shops, restaurants and entertainment outlets.

The four-level complex has now around 150 shops and kiosks across 118,000 sq ft of ground floor retail space, with 900 parking bays above.

Nakheel chairman Ali Rashid Lootah said the opening of the new retail complex at Dragon City is aimed at bringing a more diverse range of shops, quicker access and greater convenience to the 40 million people who visit each year.

Sun Tour, one of Dragon Mart’s biggest and longest-standing tenants, is occupying the entire retail area, with a new range of shops selling clothes, household goods, electronics, luggage and more.

A special three-month-long promotion is currently on to celebrate the opening. Customers who  spend Dh200 at Sun Tour stores in the new complex until February 17, 2020 will get a chance to win several prizes including a new Geely SUV, a go-kart, smart phones and smart watches.

Dragon City, home of the globally-famous Dragon Mart 1 and 2, is the world’s biggest Chinese trading hub outside mainland China, said the top Emirati developer.

The master development also has an ibis Styles hotel, which opened in 2016, and a Premier Inn, opening this year. Dragon Towers, the community’s first residential development, is under construction, it added.-TradeArabia News Service
