Work is in full swing at Bahrain Marina, an iconic mixed-use development featuring a mix of residential,  leisure, entertainment and marina facilities, and is on track for completion by 2020, said a top official.

Located in Bahrain's capital Manama, the mix-used project will include a five-star luxury hotel and serviced apartments along with freehold apartments and waterfront villas, shopping district, fully-integrated family entertainment and educational centre and a recreational waterfront space with F&B (food and beverages) and retail spaces along with a yacht club capable of berthing a vast number of boats and yachts of different sizes.

Al Hassanain Contracting Company has been signed up to execute and complete the marine works for the project.

Bahrain Marina will boast a modern design and will include residential, entertainment and marine facilities, said its chairman Abdulrahman Yusuf bin Yusuf Fakhro.

Yusuf Fakhro was at the project site along with the Bahrain Marina board members where the engineering team briefed them on the current achievements and the next phase of the project.

The board members were also updated on the workflow of the project, further stressing that the planned work for the first phase was being conducted in accordance to the proposed program.

The scope of work in Phase One includes all the enabling and marine-related works, including earthworks, shore protection, concrete quay walls and culvert crossings along with shore development using eco-friendly materials and techniques in order to achieve project sustainability and ensure the safety of the marine environment.

"We are pleased with the progress made so far on the project. Bahrain Marina will be a distinctive addition to the tourism infrastructure of the kingdom and will further develop and diversify its economy," stated Yusuf Fakhro.

"The project will surely attract foreign investment, international brands and well-known restaurants. It will also drive job opportunities for the local workforce," he added.

Welcoming the board members, Bahrain Marina CEO Yazan Haddad lauded their efforts in delivering a project based on world-class best practices.

"We have appointed an international marine specialist company in order to make sure that we follow the correct environmental practices across all stages of development. Bahrain Marina is being developed in accordance to the highest standards and based on the scheduled project timeline," noted Haddad.
