UAE-based NFT Specialized in Tower Cranes said it has been awarded the contract to supply 14 Potain tower cranes for the ongoing Reem Mall project in Abu Dhabi.

The project involves the construction of a four-storey shopping mall on a 600,000-sq-m area offering 450 retail outlets spread across an area of 260,000 sq m.

It will include 85 food and beverage outlets and over 10,000 parking spaces. There will be a broad range of leisure and entertainment facilities including a family entertainment centre and a 15-screen cinema, it stated.

The project will also feature the world's largest indoor snow play park spread over an area of 10,000 sq m, other restaurants and attractions, it added.

The construction contract was awarded in late 2017 to Itinera and Ghantoot Transport and General Contracting.

NFT has supplied 13 out of the 14 tower cranes as of date and managed to successfully complete installation in less than five weeks average one tower crane a day. These include the MDT 368 L12, MC 475, MD 560, MD 310, MC 310 K 12 and the gigantic MD 1100 lifting 40 tonnes, stated NFT in its statement.

"Two to three erecting teams were simultaneously working on site," remarked Bassem Kini, the operations manager in charge of the project fom NFT.

While one team was doing the assembling of masts, the other was involved in the installation work. This coordination was orchestrated by the operations manager to ensure NFT met the deadline of the JV.

“The erection went smoothly thanks to the coordination and support of the site team”, remarked Kini.

A representative of Itinera and Ghantoot Transport and General Contracting JV lauded the team for working together "to make sure this high-risk activity was completed safely".

NFT said it will continue to support the project with the supply of operators, spare parts, and technical services to ensure the mall is completed efficiently and on time.-TradeArabia News Service
