No construction and maintenance activities, including the excavation and demolition work, can be carried out from dusk to dawn in Oman's capital Muscat as per new rules issued by the citys civic body, said a report.

Muscat Municipality Chairman Mohsin ash ‘Sheikh has issued a decision amending some provisions of the regulations, making it no longer permissible to carry out any excavation, demolition and construction work between sunset and sunrise, on official holidays, and on Fridays in residential neighbourhoods, reported Times of Oman.

Necessary works require prior permission from the municipality, stated the report, citing Sheikh.

As per the new laws, contractors will now only get a permit for works after they submit proof of the boundaries of the plot to the Ministry of Housing by clearly marking the boundaries of the plot on the ground, he added.
