Imdaad’s staff camp on way

IMDAAD, a leading provider of integrated facilities management solutions in the GCC, has laid the foundation stone for a 119,550-sq-ft staff camp in Jebel Ali, Dubai.

The camp in Jebel Ali Industrial Area One will be able to accommodate up to 2,000 residents and will be built in three phases. The biggest, Phase One, will cover 107,539 sq ft and will house a population of 1,000. Phases Two and Three will each cover 50,871 sq ft and accommodate 500 persons.

Each accommodation will be fully furnished and come with central air-conditioning and solar-heated water. Residents will have access to well-kept communal washing, cooking and dining areas. A sewage treatment plant and first-aid facilities are included to ensure proper health and safety.

The camp’s amenities include a gymnasium, internet lounge, and a landscaped rest area with benches.

 

Albatha acquires A N Wallis stake

ALBATHA Engineering Group, part of Albatha Holdings, has acquired a substantial stake in the UK-based A N Wallis, a leading manufacturer of earthing and lightning protection products, in line with the group’s strategy to enter international markets.

Tecon, a market leader in earthing and lightning protection systems in the UAE and a part of Albatha Engineering Group, has been appointed exclusive UAE distributor for A N Wallis products. Tecon is already the authorised distributor in Saudi Arabia and Oman.

 

TDIC receives The Blue Flag award

ABU DHABI’S Tourism Development and Investment Company (TDIC) has received an international accreditation for three of its projects.

TDIC’s Saadiyat Beach on Saadiyat island, Sir Bani Yas of Desert Islands and Al Bateen Wharf in Abu Dhabi last month received The Blue Flag, a certification by the Foundation for Environmental Education (FEE) awarded to beaches and marinas that follow strict criteria regarding water quality, environmental management, safety, site facilities and environmental education.

 

Cranleigh campus deal awarded

TOURISM Development & Investment Company (TDIC) has awarded the main construction work of its first major school campus on Saadiyat island to the UAE’s Al Tafseer Contracting and General Maintenance Company. Al Tafseer is scheduled to deliver the first phase of Cranleigh Abu Dhabi in time for the start of the academic school year in 2014. The scope of work includes building of the junior and senior schools, the dining halls, and the sports and swimming facilities by the end of July 2014. This comes following the completion of all piling and enabling works.

The school will accommodate 1,600 students.

 

Dubai to set up crude oil refinery

THE Dubai government has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with a China-based China Sonangol International group to set up a crude oil refinery in the emirate.

 

Living Legends nearly complete

WORK on Phase One of Living Legends, a Dh4-billion ($1.1 billion) residential development comprising 500 villas and 12 apartment towers in the heart of Dubailand in Dubai, is nearing completion, according to its developer Tanmiyat. Phase One features a community surrounded by a world-class nine-hole golf course designed by the famous Swiss designer Peter Harradine along with a driving range and clubhouse. 

 

Tasweek-Hilon to enhance services

TASWEEK Real Estate Development and Marketing, has entered into a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Italian architectural and interior design firm Hilon Projectsitalia to mutually leverage their services, specialties, and market reach.

Under the agreement, Tasweek will promote Hilon’s architectural consultancy services and market its real estate products. Hilon will, in turn, provide architecture and interior design consultancy services for local and global projects handled by Tasweek.
