MORE than 200 local and international companies, including several firms from the UK,  are expected to participate in Oman’s infrastructure exhibition this month (October 20 to 22) with a significant number of them directly involved in the railway industry, said a report in Times of Oman.

Infra Oman 2014, the fourth Oman international trade event for infrastructure and industrial projects, will be held at the Oman International Exhibition Centre, and is organised by Al Nimr Expo in co-operation with the Ministry of Transport and Communications and the Ministry of Commerce and Industry.

Seventy-five per cent of the exhibitors will be from outside Oman, said Salim Omar Al Hashmi, chairman, Al Nimr Expo.

One of the main focuses of this year’s Infra Oman will be the upcoming GCC rail network, which will link the six Gulf countries, said Salim Omar Al Hashmi, chairman of Al Nimr Expo.

A highlight of the exhibit will be a UK pavilion featuring more than 40 companies and supported by the railway association.

Infra Oman will include country pavilions from Iran, Italy, Korea and Turkey. Other countries include Australia, Austria, France, Germany, India, Italy, Lebanon, Malaysia, Romania, Singapore, South Korea, Spain, the UAE, Kuwait and Saudi Arabia.

The exhibition will spotlight construction requirements, green and future buildings, heavy equipment and technologies, hotel and tourism projects, industrial free zones, industrial manufacturing, power and water technologies, renewable energy and environment, tools and equipment, transportation and logistics, infrastructure projects.

A highlight will be a seminar by RedSky IT, which will elaborate on the use integrated software applications to control costs on contracts, and provide accurate cost management information.
