Riding high on the back of expanded production facilities, Rabiah-Nassar & Zamil Concrete Industries (Ranco & Zamil), one of the largest precast concrete factories in the region, has clinched a string of high-profile projects in the kingdom.

Ranco & Zamil has upgraded and expanded its facilities and now owns a total of five major factories all located in one manufacturing complex covering an area of around 500,000 sq m east of Riyadh.

The main production facility has been upgraded with the latest concrete batching and mixing plants and technologically-advanced machinery.

In addition to the new recent expansions which include a new hollow-core factory and a new hi-tech fully-automated panel production factory, the company has built an additional factory this year for producing panels of different types, taking the number of factories to five in total.

“Building on its success through its long history in the precast industry, the company did not hesitate in investing in these major expansions to maintain its pole position as one of the leaders in the market,” said Faisal Al Rabiah, business de-velopment manager.

The company utilises the latest specialised engineering design, planning and operation software applications aimed at improving accuracy and efficiency of its production. In fact, it has won an award from Tekla, a renowned 3D design software company, as the winner of the Middle East Model Design Competition for its Al Jomaih car showroom project.

Ranco & Zamil continues to secure some of the prestigious projects in the country – right from universities to substation projects – with its recent orders involving work on the new terminal of King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh. The pre-cast concrete manufacturer is now eyeing a good share of the Riyadh Metro project, and is in advanced negotiations with the consortia working on the project.

The company recently signed a deal to build three college buildings comprising a full precast structure for the Prince Salman University in Al Kharj City. This is in addition to a similar project to build three colleges for the girls’ campus in Hail City.

Meanwhile, for the Najran University, it is currently working on a theatre, gymnasium, two stadiums and three college buildings, having earlier completed six college buildings for the university.

And for King Khaled University, the company has just handed over a major project comprising 45 college and administra-tive buildings in Abha and Khamis Mushayit. The project was completed in record time, Al Rabiah said.

Ranco & Zamil also plays a key role in substation projects across the country for the Saudi Electricity Company (SEC), with its latest contracts calling for the construction of seven new substations in various locations, in addition to more than 11 substations that it is currently involved with in the kingdom.

In terms of housing projects, Ranco & Zamil is currently involved in the expansion of Ranco Village Compound in Riyadh as well as a major ongoing housing project for the Saudi National Guard in the east of Riyadh.

Among the contracts the company has recently completed is a project for the Saudi Ministry of Defence to fabricate, supply and erect precast elements for a multi-level car-park in the Saudi capital. The scope of work included the design, manufacture, shipment and installation of more than 100,000 sq m of precast concrete elements.

Ranco & Zamil, an ISO 9001-2008 certified factory as well as a member of the Precast Concrete Institute (PCI), is a 50-50 joint venture between Rabiah and Nassar Group (Ranco) and Zamil Industrial Investment (Zamil Industrial).

The company designs, manufactures and erects precast concrete buildings used for various applications including resi-dential, schools, shopping malls and manufacturing plants, and wall panels in addition to fabrication of a variety of other concrete-based products.

It provides a wide portfolio of precast products, including standard and non-standard columns, panels, plinth foundation, pre-stressed beams, pre-stressed double-tee, flat and hollow-core slabs, boundary walls and road products and many other concrete products.
