POZZOLAN International has set its sights on becoming a key player in the UAE in the manufacturing and export of plastic spacers for reinforced concrete covers and supporting parts.

The company has for the past two decades provided a wide range of products to the construction market, including those designed for the roads and bridges segment. These include specialised products such as centralisers, organisers, wheel spacers, chair spacers, ejection pipe for grout, safety caps (yellow and orange), PVC (polyvinyl chloride) pipe spacers for underground cable duct banks, chamfers, and sealant foam tapes.

“We have always placed our customers foremost in our minds and constantly ask ourselves how we can improve the efficiency of our products,” says Shahen Aghamal, the company founder, who has 25 years of experience in various sectors of the construction market.

He says the company considers its customers as partners and believes the best way to promote itself is through gaining the trust of its valued customers, who would help spread their reputation in the market.

Pozzolan, he says, aims to work with all major precast companies, contractors, developers and consulting engineers in various projects of civil works, roads and bridges, tunnels and major infrastructure projects, such as telecommunications.

Pozzolan was established in Hamriyah Free Zone, Sharjah, and is managed by Andre Mikaeili, who has wide experience in various sectors such as architecture – as a family business; shipping; imports and exports and academic activities.

“Pozzolan is keen to set a framework to get closer to its clients and fulfil the rising demand in the GCC and the Mena (Middle East and North Africa) markets through available stock, and on time and quick delivery,” says Aghamal.

Pozzolan’s product range comprises more than 250 types of spacers and accessories, among which Stool, Eifel, Arc, and post-tension double rebar chair spacers are uniquely designed by the company.

Other products include chair and wheel spacers, anchor and nailing centralisers, formwork accessories, underground conduit cable spacers and water-stop tapes.

All the products have been assessed and deemed to comply with the requirements of CE, according to DIN 1045 relating to construction materials. The certificate is valid for manufacturing plastic spacers for reinforced concrete covers. As a holder of ISO 10002:2004 and ISO 9001:2008 certification from TQCS International (Group), the company guarantees the quality of its products.

Pozzolan’s products have been sold to industry owners and engineers in the UAE, Afghanistan, Andorra, Armenia, Iran, Iraq, Kuwait, Qatar, Oman, Saudi Arabia, Sri Lanka and Venezuela.

Many of its customers are international leading construction companies such as Orascom Construction Industries, Tecnimont, Samsung Engineering, and Arc Line.
