Abu Dhabi Urban Planning Council (UPC) has completed the detailed masterplan for its ambitious residential development, Shakhbout City, and handed it over to city municipality, said a report.

Formerly known as Khalifa City B, it is a major residential development on Abu Dhabi mainland, 30 km from the central business district of the Abu Dhabi Island, reported the Emirati news agency Wam.

Covering a total area of 1,854 hectares, the masterplan incorporates much needed community facilities for its 80,000 residents in a strategically important area close to Zayed City, the new seat of Federal Government and location for federal ministries and foreign embassies, stated the report.

The masterplan also incorporates the allocation of 323 additional UAE national housing plots, as well as a ‘district park’ in Shakhbout City’s business centre.
