The Special Economic Zone Authority in Duqm (Sezad) and Marina Duqm Company of the Golden Group in Oman have signed a usufruct land agreement for a major tourism complex with an investment of RO283 million ($731.6 million), said a report.

The new complex, which will be located in Duqm, will comprise hotels, a mall, residential complexes, an entertainment centre, water theme park and a number of other tourist services and facilities, the Times of Oman reported.

The project will cover an area of about 741,000 sq m and will be implemented in four phases, each of about four years.

The project includes three hotels which are five-, four- and three-star properties, a four-star suites hotel, and residential complexes comprising villas and apartments. It also comprises a mall with a range of restaurants, cafes, stores, water theme park, a variety of beach games, a mosque, a cultural and entertainment centre, gardens, and public services and utilities.

Upon completion, the project will provide about 800 jobs, the report said.
