Henkel has undertaken a strategic review of its portfolio and its branding approach, as part of its strategy to pursue the growth for its Building Materials business, through further expanding its global Ceresit footprint into emerging markets whilst building on strong market positions.

Its Thomsit Flooring business has been rebranded under Ceresit, which will allow Henkel to further develop its flooring business by leveraging resources and continue to deliver best technology solutions, according to Sujit Chandra, senior product manager.

“There will be no changes to the product formulation and quality, neither will there be any changes to our conditions,” he said.

A pioneer in the field of adhesives, Henkel was founded over 140 years ago by Fritz Henkel. Now a world leading manufacturer of adhesives, Henkel is present worldwide via strong brands such as Ceresit, Pattex and Polybit, in the field of building construction.

“Ceresit can look back on more than 110 years of tradition and has produced a steady stream of innovative products. Thanks to state-of-the-art technologies, the brand can offer today a wide range of high-quality products,” Chandra said.

Every year, millions of square feet of floor coverings like parquet, PVC (polyvinyl chloride), rubber, linoleum and carpet are being laid to cover the floors in various applications across the GCC. To fix these types of floor covering, special adhesives and repair materials are required.

Also, many construction site tasks cannot be accomplished with single products and solutions. For this reason, Ceresit builds on comprehensive product systems whose components are perfectly matched – from tiling systems all the way to flooring, facade and waterproofing systems, he added.

According to Chandra, one of Henkel’s key strengths is innovation while “sustainability is part of its genetic code”. The company’s ‘dust-free technology’ for levelling compounds, provides a healthy work environment and clean renovation, while its patented Flextec technology allows customers perfectly smooth solvent/isocyanate-free handling.

“Across all our business divisions, sustainability is a key topic,” he said. “In 1997, Henkel was among the initiators of the GEV (Association for the Control of Emissions in Products for Flooring Installation). This association laid the foundation for the classification of low-emission products in flooring technology in a bid to ensure optimum indoor air quality.”

Ceresit flooring technologies offer a complete flooring system comprising primer, substrate repair, levelling compound and bonding/fixing adhesive for various types of floor coverings like wood, PVC, rubber, linoleum and carpet. “With Ceresit, the company is committed to provide floor covering works that are safer, easier and healthier by optimising indoor air quality,” he added.
