A Haulotte scissors lift in operation at the Grand Mosque in Makkah.

Haulotte Group, a French aerial work platform manufacturer with operations in the region, says its fleet of hitech equipment has been playing a key role in the cleaning of the Masjid Al Haram (Grand Mosque) in Makkah, Saudi Arabia.

The equipment including Haulotte electric scissors and masts has been supplied through Roots Group Arabia, the company’s dealer in Saudi Arabia.

Masjid Al Haram, the largest mosque in the world, receives thousands of pilgrims on a daily basis.

The cleaning doesn’t stop despite the huge crowds of visitors around the clock and continues even during Ramadan and Hajj seasons.

Haulotte Star 10 is used to clean entrances to the sacred mosque, bridges, minarets, facades and columns. These are washed, cleaned, disinfected and pest-controlled using sprays. This machine has the capability to drive at full speed with its jib fully elevated, which offers the best accessibility and optimal productivity, says a spokesman for Haulotte.

“The new updated AC motors allow smooth and progressive driving movements for optimal agility. The operator feels safe and comfortable while manoeuvering. It also gives a very precise control over the machine to access restricted areas,” says the spokesman.

Haulotte has also deployed its Compact 8 hitech machine for polishing the door of the Kaaba, Maqam Ibrahim, lanterns, gates and gold-coated items, in addition to the dividers inside the mosque. This product is best suited for flat slab applications and is drivable at full height and roll-out extension (0.92 m) for high productivity. The Haulotte range of compact scissors is used by the cleaning staff on the Kaaba, Al Multazim and Yemeni corner, where oud and rose perfume is sprayed every day.

“Haulotte Compact 14 has been chosen for three years now to perform the monumental task of changing the cover of the Kaaba in an impressive annual ceremony,” he concludes.
