The UAE has emerged as the top regional performer at Meed Quality Awards for Projects with 43 Emirati developers getting recognition for their project designs and quality followed by Saudi Arabia and Oman with 10 each.

Kuwait had nine national winners, followed by Qatar with eight while Bahrain had four. Three outstanding suppliers were also given awards, stated business intelligence firm Meed, which has constituted the awards.

These awards are aimed at honouring the best in businesses operating in the GCC projects sector, it stated.

They are not only given for the construction element of project delivery but also the value and quality of a project throughout its entire life cycle – from the design concept through to engineering and construction and its wider contribution to society and to the environment, it added.

A total of 87 projects have been recognised as the best at the national level which will now move through to the second round of judging to find the highest-quality GCC projects in the several categories. As well as competing for the GCC honours in their specific sectors, the national winners will vie for the Meed Quality Project of the Year award.

The GCC winners of the 2017 Meed Quality Awards for Projects will be announced on May 3 at The Westin Dubai Mina Seyahi Beach Resort & Marina, UAE, it added.
