Part of the Wakrah Bypass ... under construction.

Qatar’s public works authority Ashghal is set to open a 1.6-km stretch of new permanent road under its Al Wakra Bypass Project in the southern region of the country.

The project comprises two flyovers and two lanes in each direction along Al Wukair Road, said Ashghal.

To facilitate this opening, the junction connecting Al Sakhama Road to Al Wukair Road was permanently closed late last month (May) in co-ordination with the Traffic Police Department.

Ashghal is expediting remaining works on the Al Wakra Bypass Project which is scheduled to open part of its 11-km-long main carriageway this month (June).

Once opened, motorists travelling from Al Wakra and areas further south of Qatar will benefit from direct access to the G Ring Road connecting to the New Orbital Highway and Truck Route and the F Ring Road towards Hamad International Airport and Doha, it added.
